Take Me With You When You Go

The Mississippi was running,
I said we could lose ourselves.

Hearts pounding.
I said you can see the stars overhead.

Memories that deny the past

return to become
            the present itself

asking: who are you?
      I am the what-is-found.

Where are you going
Who will tag along?
      The where-I-ams
      The I-don’t-knows

will bring us to the brink of
Maybe they could lead us to
      the present itself.

I said won’t you stay, please.

The Mississippi is running,
you don’t have to chase it.

And I wondered:
      can we lose ourselves?

Questions asking,
      can we find ourselves in
                  the I-don’t-knows?
